Sinbad Adventure - Sri Lanka & Southern India
This is an 11 day trip with tutoring over 5 days.
This exciting course is the result of a visit last year that my daughter, Anna and I made to set up a memorial garden in memory of my dear wife Brenda. We were so enraptured with both Sri Lanka and Kerala that we immediately wanted to share the experience with some of our watercolour friends by inviting them on the painting holiday of a lifetime.
Our Sinbad Adventure will take us to the most beautiful locations in Sri Lanka where will paint in tranquil gardens and on palm fringed beaches. The tales of Sinbad report him being washed up on these shores and experiencing some of the serendipity of the landscape.
We will stay in some of the most gracious hotels in the orient and be cared for by devoted staff who will provide us with culinary delights. We shall visit world famous temples, shrines and spice gardens. We shall also watch dozens of elephants bathing in a river sanctuary. We shall meet some extraordinary people who will tell us first hand stories of the devastating Tsunami. In Kerala we shall spend a night on a house boat in the world famous backwaters. Here we shall also spend a day visiting the Vidiyal Trust project which rescues street children and providing for their welfare and education. Here we shall see the site of Brenda's garden.
We have kept the cost to a minimum, while not sparing on comfort and convenience. As both India and Sri Lanka have so much to offer the visitor we want you to take home a lasting memory in the form of a travelogue diary which can be in the form of a sketch book journal, scrap book or photo album. Help with creative writing and drawing will be given. Painting partners are welcome.
