Courses: Watercolour Walk in North
Norfolk – (1 day courses sketching on location)
Course starts at 10.00am and ends at 4.00pm
This
is a new venture designed to help you develop a watercolourist’s
most important tool - a working sketchbook. Turner and all the
great artists kept working sketchbooks throughout their careers.
The
walk will take place in the grounds of a National Trust property
in North Norfolk. You are invited to take a walk in
the park at Blickling, famous for its
beautiful vistas. The walk will begin in the car park at 10.00am
and will be approximately three miles long so that there will
be ample opportunities to sketch and paint. There will be regular
stops for demonstrations of quick pen and wash techniques and
opportunities
for you to make your own sketches. Although the walking is on
footpaths, sensible footwear is recommended together with suitable
clothing
(and sun cream).
Equipment needs to be minimal and accessible.
A small watercolour field box is ideal together with a small
sketchbook either of heavy-duty cartridge paper (150 g/m acid
free) or a larger
one of Bockingford quality watercolour paper. The emphasis
will be on speedy sketching and observing the essentials of a landscape,
which can be used later to produce paintings at home. A picnic
lunch will be provided and each course will end with tea and
cakes at 4.00pm.
